Using a prepaid meter

Where do I find my meter number?

The meter number may be found below the barcode on the front of the sub-meter, as well as on the meter card.

The meter number is eleven digits.

How does the sub-meter function?

The Recharger Prepaid Sub-meter gets its electricity directly from the Municipality/Eskom meter. The primary supplier remains Eskom/Municipality, so the Landlord will still get an electricity bill.

The Recharger sub-meter is not a replacement for the main Municipality/Eskom meter.

It helps Landlords by letting tenants buy electricity vouchers independently. The amount purchased is reimbursed to the Landlord's nominated bank account, helping to pay the Municipality/Eskom bill.

A prepaid sub-meter supplies electricity to tenants from the main supply if there are units available. When units run out, the supply stops until a new voucher is purchased and loaded onto the sub-meter.

How do I recharge my prepaid electricity sub-meter?

On your receipt, you will receive a credit token with a 20 digit number. Simply enter the number on your meter keypad and press the red button to recharge.
